For almost 13 years – from March 30, 1995 until her death on January 9, 2008 – Jan Zimmerman was a breast cancer survivor. Throughout her journey, she took charge of her life despite fear, exhausting medical treatments, and the uncertainties of living with this devastating disease. She always said, “Cancer has made me determined to live and to live well.”
Her experiences and lessons led her to write a book called Hands Off My Hope! Life Lessons on My Journey with Breast Cancer with the hope that it would help others deal with their life-threatening disease. Because she is no longer here to see her dream become a reality, we - the family - are taking over the responsibility of getting the book into as many hands as possible.
The family consists of Jan's husband Manly, their two daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey and Evan Shuster and Wendy and Andy Jacobson, and grandchildren Ethan and Sasha Jacobson who were the muse to their "Nanna."
They all reside in the Minneapolis, MN area.
